My Body is My Voice
August 20 - 25th, 2020
is a unique project combining Voice in Movement Integration method, Somatic work, Improvisation, Composition and Rhythm. Open to dance and voice artists, therapists and to all who are interested in systematically creating a transcendent Art piece with Ritualistic intent. All who enjoy working with Body/Movement/Voice/Rhythm, as well as those who wish to refine their Awareness, are welcome.
Our personal stories will be our material. Therapeutic processes will transform at the end into a performance piece.
Voice in Movement Integration is a process which reconstructs the basic connection between breathing, movement and voice. This connection enables the release of natural healing forces, creative energy, vitality and spontaneity. It takes us back to an ancient inner language, reconnecting our personal unconscious and our collective roots. As a 'backward evolution', it recovers consciousness levels and modes of expression which were accessible during a personal and collective pre-linguistic era. Using natural rhythms we will bring forth a variety of characters that lay within us, from blocked emotional experiences to archaic memories, from inner images to somatic memories, all drawn from our histories.
Somatic work will be based on Bartenieff Fundamentals, BMC and Laban Movement Analyses which provide invaluable tools for sensing, feeling, action and for increasing our psycho-physical potential. Rhythm & Drumming work will be part of the group attunement, as well as rhythmic coordination, listening and communication.
